This location is DANGEROUS because I can easily walk to it. In fact, it's way too close for my comfort. I get the cravings. You know what I'm talking about....gooey chocolate chip and heath bar cookies, soft sugar cookies and ice cream that rivals the top producers (both in price and flavor). To make things worse, it's my favorite place to get a pre or post movie treat (it is directly across from the theatre in the same courtyard), and since I go to a lot of movies, this is a problem situation. Luckily the Scoop Nazi reputation that is held at the Dupont location does not exist here, at least not that I've witnessed. That works well for me because I prefer my cookies and ice cream without a side of attitude.

I've eaten Larry's cookies for over 25 years, my favorites are the chocolate chip cookie with pecans, and the oatmeal raisin. Then they introduced the bars, which are to die for, the fantasy and fudge brownie are my favorites. I spend a lot of time during the summer in Old Towne, Alexandria and I buy a cone of Larry's ice cream for me, my wife (cup) and my daughter each time we go - which makes our outing complete. I buy for me, the butter pecan, my wife a cup of the mango sorbet and my daughters' favorite is oreo and cookie dough.

The best damn Green Tea ice cream I've ever had as well as other unusual flavors like lychee and helva/halwa.
People have commented on how eccentric the staff here are, actually when I understood that they're Turkish and was able to talk to them (having lived there for a few years) they were totally cool and were always very welcoming and regularly offered me free samples. Great flavors and great place to stop by on a hot, sticky DC summer's evening. Just remember the Golden Rule, if you're nice, the world is nice back to you and any encounter you have with Larry after that will be fine.

Heaven is Larry's Lychee ice cream. Even though I love chocolate, I will forego all of the chocolatey flavours available for the sake of Lychee. It tastes like fragrant rosewater and sweet cream and sunbeams and starshine and rainbows. I'm not kidding.
EDIT: I just went back to Larry's today because it's on my way home and I missed the bus and it was hotter than hell. So, since I was losing approximately two thirds of my body weight in perspiration, I decided to treat myself to an ice cream to pass the time as I trudged up that big-ass hill.
Not to discount my obvious beauty, charisma and charm which would warrant such treatment, but the dude serving was actually really nice to me. I asked for Lychee, then decided to go out on a limb and try something new, so I requested Key West (orange and chocolate and chocolate chunks, laced with MDMA because it made me love the world) instead.
And you know what he did?

Seriously, this is the best ice cream ever. They have every possible flavor to choose from here. Yes, what they say is true It's worth it for this great ice cream.

Recently checked this place out with some fellow yelpers from the last DC yelper event. This place was pricey (think ben and jerrys) but it is so much better because its fresh and im goign to guess changes daily? Its lychee season right now and thats the ice cream I got. It was heaven. Absolutely delicious. A must try!!! Great for hot summery days in the city. Watch out for the funny yet intimidating server that doles.
